Italy - Day Three

Today we headed out for the Duomo. We strolled up the Tornabuoni and there we were. It was beautiful inside. Bitterly cold inside though, must be all the marble.

After the Duomo we headed down Via dei Calzaiuoli. Dorothy was trying to retrace her steps to find a leather store she had made a purchase at some years previous. We never located the exact store but we found a TON of leather stores. I got a great pair of shoes!! Mollie said they looked like they were made to be on my feet. Love, love.

Today we ate at Coco Lezzone. It is a trattoria frequented by locals. No frills here, but awesome food - long meatballs, roast beef with cannellini beans, pasta with zucchini and for dessert fresh strawberries with lemon and sugar. Oh, BTW, Prince Charles and Princess Diana used to eat here.

We napped and read in the afternoon. I am loving the life of the Italians. We have our schedule down now. A light breakfast in the morning then sightseeing and shopping and a cappucino. There restaurants open for lunch from 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm and then close until dinner at 7:30 pm. Also, at 6 pm every night there is passeggiate. Translated this means stroll or walk. EVERYONE comes out into the street and walks and talks and greets each other. A wonderful custom.
