Dress or Pants

Here is the dilemma. My godson, Ben, is getting married in June. It is an evening wedding in San Antonio. I have been searching and searching for something to wear. I found this dress and thought it was perfect. Great ruching on the top, empire waist, and NOT frumpy and sequined.

I showed it to Cita. Not good! Here goes....

"Hey mom, I found a great dress for Ben's wedding. Want to see?"

Cita takes a look over my shoulder and says, "Oh no, that won't work!"

"Why?"

In disgust, "It isn't dressy enough."

"What do you mean? It is beautiful. What are you wearing?"

"The same thing I wore to Casey's wedding." Which, by the way, is a two piece Eileen Fisher top and slacks. Which is pretty, but not DRESSY!

"Mom, you wore slacks to Casey's wedding. A dress is more formal than slacks."

She frustratingly replies, "Dawn, it is not whether it is pants or a dress--it is the MATERIAL that is important!" She turns on her heal and walks out with one last shot, "And Kate better look nice too!"
