Summer Road Trip - Day One

Kate and I headed out for our Summer Road Trip 2009. We loaded up the car and headed out for South Texas. Our first stop - Spicewood, Texas, home of Krause Springs! It was beautiful but it was POURING rain. Unbelievable! We sat in the bathroom, which by the way was really nice, and waited for the rain to pass. No such luck. So we packed up and mosied on our way.

Poor Kate! So sad!

The bathroom! Check out the tile.

The spring-fed swimming pool. It flows down into the natural pools below.

Kate in the rain.
After the failed swimming hole attempt we headed for San Antonio. We went via Johnson City and Bulverde down HWY 281. And since we were on 281, why not stop at Teka Molina?! Oh yes, some REAL GOOD MEXICAN food! We each ordered a #20 and washed it down with a Big Red. Yummers!

Then off to burn off all those calories in my Aunt Nancy Jo's pool.

After swimming our appetites were back! My uncle, James, is a fantastic cook. He made an incredible dinner. CeCe and Ben were back from their honeymoon to Italy and they were able to join us. Kate was beside herself with happiness!!! James' menu was over-the-top! Our first course was bruschetta with homemade pesto and fresh basil. The second course was lobster ravioli topped with a rich cream sauce and a lobster claw!!! Is your mouth watering yet? The third course was farfalla topped with a chicken breast. Delish! And the grand finale was homemade mango sorbet topped with fresh blueberries.

After all that food we snuggled in on the couch and looked at CeCe and Ben's honeymoon pictures. What a fun day!!! I love my family - old and new!
